Storybook Ball Raises Vital Pediatric Funds

The 11th annual Storybook Ball brought donors and friends of MassGeneral Hospital for Children together as more than 475 attendees enjoyed a Batman-themed evening at the Boston Park Plaza Castle on Oct.15, 2011. The evening, chaired for the second year in a row by Alli Achtmeyer and Alyson Lindsey, raised vital funds for MGHfC’s family-centered care approach. Initiatives highlighted included the Newborn Medicine Program and the Child Life Program. Physician-in-Chief Ronald E. Kleinman, MD, and Surgeon-in-Chief Joseph P. Vacanti, MD, shared insight into the mission of MGHfC, its newborn medicine efforts, and the Child Life Program, which provides support services for young patients and their families during challenging illnesses.

Joining guests were members of the Sanchez-Ruballos family. They shared their incredible experience at MGHfC with newborn medicine, pediatric oncology and the skilled and compassionate nursing team that took the family under their wing. MassGeneral Hospital for Children, a children’s hospital within a general hospital, offers a full range of services, beginning with prenatal care and transitioning pediatric patients to the adult services at Mass General.
