An unrestricted gift to the MGH Fund is a contribution that can be used where it’s needed most. The MGH Fund enables Mass General to immediately meet new opportunities and challenges in today’s dynamic health care environment. Your gift supports the future of medicine today.
You can direct your gift to a specific purpose or program at Mass General. If you are making your gift online, select “Other Area” on the “Designation” drop-down menu and enter the area you would like to support in the text box. If you are mailing in your gift, please include your designation in an accompanying letter. Contact us or call 617.726.2200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions you may have about specific designations.
A tribute gift is a gift to honor or remember someone. A gift to Mass General is a meaningful and enduring gesture to remember a loved one, honor a friend or family member or thank an outstanding caregiver.
You can make such a donation on this page using a credit card, or by sending in a check. With either method, please list the name of the person being remembered, honored or thanked and provide the name and address of the person to be notified of the gift. Gifts can be mailed to:
Massachusetts General Hospital
125 Nashua Street, Suite 540
Boston, MA 02114
When you make a gift in honor or in memory of someone on giving.massgeneral.org, we provide the honoree or memorialee’s family with the name of the fund you made the gift to and your name and address. We do not disclose the amount of your donation. If you choose to make an anonymous donation, the honoree or memorialee’s family will be notified that an anonymous donor made a gift. Your name and address will not be disclosed.
The exception to this is if you are making a gift in support of a BeCause Fundraising Community effort on because.massgeneral.org, which lists supporters’ names and gift amounts on the fundraiser’s page. If you choose to make your gift anonymously, then your gift will be displayed as an anonymous donation, but the amount will be listed on the page.
The following language is suggested for obituaries:
“In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of [name of deceased] to the Massachusetts General Hospital, [fund name or hospital area], 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.”
You can also create an online tribute page on our web site. It will allow donors to make gifts in honor, tribute or memory of someone.

A DAF is a charitable account, sponsored by a public charity, which donors use to support their philanthropy. After establishing a donor-advised fund, the donor may recommend grants to qualified public charities. They may also advise the sponsoring organization (e.g. Fidelity Charitable®, Schwab Charitable or others) on the investment strategy for the charitable assets.
