Tracy Batchelor, MD, MPH, Named MGB Chair of Neurology

As part of Mass General Brigham’s larger effort to integrate care and services across academic medical centers, Tracy Batchelor, MD, MPH, was recently appointed MGB chair of neurology.

A new Mass General Brigham (MGB) chair of neurology has been named. Tracy Batchelor, MD, MPH, has accepted the role, effective Feb. 1, 2025.

In his new role, Dr. Batchelor will unify the departments at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, leading the integrated department of Neurology with a vision to enhance neurological care, research and education across the healthcare system.

Dr. Batchelor has served as chair of the Brigham’s Department of Neurology since December 2018. With more than 25 years of experience as a practicing neurologist, researcher, teacher and administrator, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient care, translational research and service to the MGB community.

His extensive National Institutes of Health funding and leadership roles, including program director of Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) SPORE and co-leader of the DF/HCC Neuro-Oncology Program, highlight his unparalleled dedication to academic excellence. Throughout all his leadership roles, Dr. Batchelor has worked to diversify leadership, launch impactful initiatives and expand communication. His commitment to mentorship and training underscores his ability to support and inspire future leaders in the field.
