Patrick Ellinor, MD, PhD, has accepted the role of inaugural executive director of the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Heart and Vascular Institute, effective immediately. Since 2016, Dr. Ellinor has served as the director of the Telemachus & Irene Demoulas Family Foundation Center for Cardiac Arrhythmias at Massachusetts General Hospital. Over eight years, the Center has grown and developed into one of the largest arrhythmia services in the country. Since 2022, Dr. Ellinor has served as the acting chief of cardiology and co-director of the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center. In the last two years, the division has experienced marked growth, and he has worked collaboratively with colleagues across the system to drive new initiatives in cardiac care.
“In this role, Dr. Ellinor will be responsible for leading the development, execution and ongoing management and optimization of the Institute. This includes unifying and strengthening our divisions of cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and cardiology,” says David F. M. Brown, MD, president of academic medical centers at Mass General Brigham. “We are confident that with Dr. Ellinor’s leadership and the partnership of our heart and vascular faculty, clinicians, researchers and staff across Mass General Brigham, we can become a global leader in heart and vascular care, research and education.”
