Effective Feb. 15, 2025, William T. Curry, MD, will become chief medical officer (CMO) for academic medical centers at Mass General Brigham (MGB). In this new role, which consolidates CMO leadership across MGB’s academic medical centers, Dr. Curry will represent and oversee the duties of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer for Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Physicians Organization, Massachusetts General Hospital, the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) and Mass Eye and Ear (MEE). Dr. Curry will oversee a comprehensive range of programs aimed at improving patient outcomes and experience in addition to optimizing the physician experience.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Curry has held several leadership positions within Mass General Brigham, most recently serving as chief medical officer of Mass General, MGPO and MEE. He first came to Mass General in 1997 as a surgical intern after graduating from Cornell University Medical College in New York. Following his neurosurgical residency and fellowship in clinical research training in neuro-oncology, Dr. Curry became a staff neurosurgeon in 2004.
In the ensuing years, Dr. Curry — who is the Adeline Rose Wydotis Professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School — was also co-director of Mass General Neuroscience and director of Neurosurgical Oncology. He is a member of the MEE Board of Directors, serves on many hospital, national and international committees and task forces, and is known as a strong advocate of educating, supporting and championing the next generation of physicians.
