The executive director of Mass General Brigham’s new Neuroscience Institute has been named. Merit E. Cudkowicz, MD, MSc, has accepted the role, effective Feb. 1, 2025.
In her new role, Dr. Cudkowicz will spearhead the new MGB Neuroscience Institute, leading strategic planning, implementation and optimization and working closely with Meg Kotarski, MBA, the newly named chief administrator for the Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Cudkowicz will oversee and drive the integration of MGB’s world-class resources, bringing together multidisciplinary teams, including our colleagues in Neurosurgery, to establish the MGB Neuroscience Institute, which will provide cutting-edge neuroscience treatment, innovative research and transformative educational activities.
As chair of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Neurology since 2012, Dr. Cudkowicz has driven strategic growth in clinical care, research and education, while developing a diverse and inclusive team. She will continue her roles as the director of the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS and as a physician caring for people with ALS. Dr. Cudkowicz’s talents and experiences equip her well to advance a bold vision for the MGB Neuroscience Institute, transforming access to care, accelerating discoveries across brain diseases, training the next generation and fostering an inclusive, collaborative community.
