The one hundred honoree: Dianne Finkelstein, PhD

A world-renowned biostatistician, Dianne Finkelstein, PhD, is a professor of biostatistics at Harvard Medical School and director of biostatistics at Mass General. A recognized innovator in both biostatistics and cancer research, Dianne helps the Cancer Center’s clinical and laboratory investigators design their studies to achieve the most reliable, precise and informative outcomes.

Dianne has developed new statistical methods in cancer research and advanced biostatistics methodologies for survival analysis, carcinogenicity testing, clinical trials and epidemiology.

She has edited major statistical publications and has been the editor of her field’s premier journal Biometrics for more than 20 years. Dianne is also principal investigator of the Statistical Coordinating Center for the NCI-sponsored Cancer Genetics Network.

A member of the International Statistical Institute, Dianne was elected as a fellow of the American Statistical Association in recognition of her breakthrough contributions to AIDS and cancer clinical trials, her seminal analyses of survivor data and her leadership of government advisory and review panels.
