Bob S. Carter, MD, PhD, is a passionate and strategic leader who has served as chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital since 2017. He will now continue his dedicated work to integrate the Mass General and Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s departments of neurosurgery, building on the incredible legacies at both organizations and charting the future for neurosurgery across Mass General Brigham.
“Dr. Carter is not only one of the nation’s leading clinical neurosurgeons, an accomplished researcher and committed mentor, but he is also a true advocate for collaborative leadership who co-founded Mass General Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary initiative for advanced interdisciplinary neurological care and research,” says David F. Brown, MD, president of academic medical centers at Mass General Brigham. “Under his leadership, we will build, strengthen and unite our teams, improving the quality of care we provide and driving forward best practices and innovations in neurosurgical care.”
