The Run to Home Base presented by New Balance is a yearly charity race that honors our nation’s heroic Veterans and helps raise much needed funds for Home Base. Proceeds from the event will fund the clinical care provided to Veterans and their Families. The Run is a unique 9K run or 5K run/walk through scenic Boston ending with the unforgettable experience of finishing the race by crossing home plate at historic Fenway. The 2020 Home Base Veterans Day Dinner will raise funds to help heal the invisible wounds for Veterans and their Families. This Veterans Day, tune in to WCVB Channel 5 Boston for “Project CommUNITY: Helping Veterans Heal,” special day-long televent. Hosted by WCVB EyeOpener anchor and U.S. Air Force veteran, Randy Price, the televent is increasing awareness and raising critical funds to help Home Base heal the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all eras, Service Members, Military Families, and the Families of the Fallen through world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research. WCVB is airing live cut-ins throughout the day during regularly scheduled programming featuring various topics related to helping heal the invisible wounds of war. 9th Annual 1st LT Derek Hines Flag Day 5K

The 1st LT Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund is hosting their 9th Annual Flag Day 5K road race. The 5K walk, run, or jog will go through the beautiful city of Newburyport, MA – starting and ending at Cashman Park along the Merrimac River. Everyone who registers will receive a t-shirt and complimentary beverage at the post-race celebration with live music, food and drinks! SEAL Legacy Foundation’s Patriot Dinner and Warrior Open

Home Base is proud to partner with the SEAL Legacy Foundation to provide care to Navy SEALs who are dealing with post-traumatic, traumatic brain injury or other invisible wounds through a two-week Intensive Clinical Program (ICP). In the ICP, SEALs receive close to a year’s worth of treatment in two weeks, allowing SEALs to be put on a path of success that will complement their ongoing care in their home towns. 2020 Marine Corps Marathon

We are excited to announce that we are a first-time charity partner for the 2020 Marine Corps Marathon! The Marine Corps Marathon is one of the largest marathons in the US and the world. Known as ‘the best marathon for beginners,’ the MCM is largest marathon in the world that doesn’t offer prize money, earning its nickname, “The People’s Marathon.” This year marks the 75th anniversary of U.S. Marines first landing on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II. To remember and honor the Marines that fought and gave their lives during the historic battle, this year’s finisher’s medal will feature the island’s volcanic ash, often referred to as black sand. Home Base No Shave
Founded and championed by MBTA Transit Police/Boston Gang Unit Detective Kurt Power, U.S. Army Veteran, Purple Heart recipient and proud graduate of Home Base, the Annual Home Base No Shave campaign raises awareness and funds for the critical, life-saving care that Home Base provides to Veterans and their Families to heal from the invisible wounds, such as post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. All police, firefighters, corrections officers, EMTs, dispatchers and paramedics are encouraged to participate. We also welcome any community supporters, individuals or companies to join our efforts, as this is a great way to encourage and motivate employees, friends and family to make an impact, together. In 2019, 136 police departments throughout New England and 14 companies and individual supporters raised over $320,000 for Home Base! To learn more, click here.

Given the public health emergency over the COVID-19 virus, unfortunately, the 2020 Home Base Golf and Family Day at Kensington that was scheduled for April 4, 2020 has been cancelled. Home Base SWFL and the Kensington committee are deeply grateful to the Kensington community and local sponsors for their continued support of this event over the past 8 years. Together, the committee, club members, Veterans, sponsors and donors raised over $150,000 in 2019, and since 2012, this generous community has raised over $1M in support of local SWFL Veterans and Families. It is because of this event and other local fundraisers that have enabled Home Base to provide a full range of programs for our SWFL Veterans. 5th Annual Home Base Golf Outing at Pelican’s Nest Golf Club

Join the Pelican’s Nest community this Veterans Day for the 5th Annual Home Base Golf Tournament, benefiting Veterans and Families in Southwest Florida. Last year, this event raised a staggering $160,000 for Home Base Southwest Florida, totaling to over $450,000 raised since 2016. Registration begins at 10am with an Opening Ceremony at 11am and 11:30am shotgun start. An outdoor reception will follow the golf outing with appetizers, wine, beer & soft drinks. Are donations to Home Base tax deductible?
Yes. Home Base is a program at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and utilizes their Tax ID. MGH is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
Where does my money go?
Home Base is a program in partnership with the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), utilizing MGH’s tax ID. All of the funds donated to Home Base go towards the clinical care and support of Veterans and their Families. As with most academic medical centers, 15% of the funds are applied towards the necessary administrative support for the program. In addition, MGH provides all of its fundraising efforts, including staff and expenses, to the Home Base as an in-kind gift, rendering $0 in cost to the program for its fundraising efforts. All funds donated towards Home Base SWFL will remain in Southwest Florida, providing care and support to SWFL Veterans and their Families.

Yes, you can choose to be anonymous when completing the online gift form.
Can I make a donation in honor or in memory of someone?
Yes. After selecting a donation amount, please check the box next to "I am making this gift in honor or memory of somebody" and fill out the tribute type and name.
