The 13th annual Storybook Ball, held Oct. 20 at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, raised more than $1.3 million to benefit numerous clinical and research programs within MassGeneral Hospital for Children as well as for an appeal that supported nutrition and music and art therapy programs.
About 500 guests attended the event, whose theme was “The Sound of Music.” Attendees enjoyed dancing, dinner, carnival games and a live auction whose offerings included a New York Fashion Week extravaganza and a package from Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton featuring tickets to his band’s concert in Los Angeles. Another highlight of the evening was a video featuring the story of Tommy McGraw, an 8-year-old from Tacoma, Wash., who received proton beam therapy at Mass General. Tommy attended along with his father, Lt. Col. Joseph “Jake” McGraw.
Ronald E. Kleinman, MD, physician-in-chief at MGHfC, said the generous philanthropic support provided by guests “will be invaluable in advancing the clinical programs and research that benefit the children we serve.”
