Nominations are now being accepted for the one hundred, the Mass General Cancer Center’s annual gala honoring our 100 heroes in the fight against cancer. 2013’s celebration included three individuals honored for their work in the fight against breast cancer.
Since 1995, the nonprofit Betty J. Borry Breast Cancer Retreats has hosted excursions for female survivors of breast cancer, uniting women through a weekend of outdoor adventure and helping women reclaim their lives after cancer.
Diagnosed with breast cancer at age 37, journalist Ann Murray Paige created the award winning documentary “The Breast Cancer Diaries” and the book “Pink Tips: Breast Cancer Advice from Somebody Who’s Been There” to help guide and inspire others going through treatment.
As the quality director of Mass General’s Division of Plastic Surgery, Amy Colwell, MD, FACS, has made innovative advances in refining techniques for breast reconstruction following surgical treatment, making tremendous contributions to patients’ emotional well-being and continuing quality of life during their cancer battle.Funds raised at the one hundred support cancer research, patient care, education and community outreach programs at the Mass General Cancer Center.
