The Savings Bank Mutual Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI) has long admired the world-class health care and research provided by Massachusetts General Hospital, including their recent lifesaving work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Early on, the SBLI team watched as concerns grew over a lack of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for Mass General hospital workers, and we wanted to help.

The SBLI Foundation donated $25,000 to Mass General’s Emergency Response Fund to purchase additional PPE to protect frontline workers and support efforts made to continue to care for our community. The selfless acts and risks taken every day by Mass General medical professionals are recognized, and we are proud to support them.

While SBLI is in the business of protecting families across the country by servicing their life insurance needs, we are also deeply committed to furthering their health and well-being by investing in the communities in which they live and work. Our #SBLIGives philosophy is based on the belief that paying it forward can change our society for the better and help those who need it most.

There are few among us at SBLI or in New England who have not had a loved one helped by the excellent care and research performed at Mass General. We are proud to support this one-of-a-kind institution as they lead the fight against an unprecedented health care crisis.

If the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us one thing, it’s that everyone has a story and a role to play in our response and recovery. “Why we give” celebrates the ordinary and extraordinary reasons people choose to support Mass General. Every story shared is a chance to inspire others. You can make a difference in our fight against COVID-19 by sharing your story today.
