With great creativity and energy, Sally Hooper, MSW, LICSW, provides supportive resources for patients of the Mass General Cancer Center, where she is director of the Maxwell V. Blum Cancer Resource Room and The Network for Patients and Families.
Sally pioneered the Cancer Center’s Network for Patients and Families and guides volunteers in providing newly diagnosed patients with compassionate support and advice. She works diligently with the clinicians to advance the program and continually finds new opportunities to assist patients and their families. For example, Sally created the Cancer Center’s annual “Survivor’s Day,” an event valued by patients and their caregivers. And she transformed a tiny resource room into a full-service resource center.
“I have known Sally for 16 years as one of her network volunteers,” says Debbie Kanaday, a cancer survivor. “I am blessed to call Sally my friend and mentor.”
