Throughout his distinguished career in colorectal cancer surgery at the Mass General Cancer Center, Paul Shellito, MD, has treated thousands of patients and tackled some of the most difficult cases, quietly and without fanfare.

Dr. Shellito takes a meticulous approach, from his initial evaluation to his attentive follow-up care. In his more than 30 years at Mass General, he has earned the gratitude of his patients for his outstanding care and the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his dedication, insightfulness and collaborative spirit.

“Dr. Shellito is one of the true pillars of colorectal cancer at Mass General, ” says Theodore Hong, MD, director of Gastrointestinal Services in the Department of Radiation Oncology. “All of us in the gastrointestinal group have taken care of countless patients with him. He has been a wonderful colleague.”

“I have shared many patients with Dr. Shellito, a number of whom are now out 10 plus years after their surgeries and have gone on to live fruitful lives because of his excellent surgical care,” says Jeffrey Clark, MD, director of Clinical Trials Support. “Additionally, every one of us who have interacted with him have benefited from his dedication, attention to detail, careful follow-up, and the excellent care that he has provided each patient.”
