As an administrative assistant in the Mass General Cancer Center, Pam Dicicco supports four physicians, three nurse practitioners, three nurses, a team of research assistants and physicians visiting from other countries.
Pam’s telephone never stops ringing. She is constantly handling calls from healthcare providers and patients, many with urgent requests. She is the first person at the Cancer Center to speak with many patients as they begin treatment. Some arrive overwhelmed with anxiety. Pam responds with warmth, patience and courtesy to each person she interacts with by phone or face-to-face.
Consistently gracious, efficient and resourceful, Pam makes sure that all the people she assists obtain the help they need — whether it is an answer that may require her to locate the appropriate expert, or guidance to ensure a patient’s arrival at the right time and place for a first treatment.
