The one hundred honoree: Juliane Daartz, MSc

Juliane Daartz, MSc is a physicist at Mass General’s Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center. Combining a high level of expertise with dedication to clinical excellence and deep compassion for patients, Juliane creates radiation treatment plans.

She is brilliant at her work. She has a meticulous nature and high standards and develops a superb plan for each patient. She thoroughly reviews patients’ medical conditions, asks insightful questions of physicians and often suggests innovations that improve treatment individually and as a whole. Juliane insists on perfection in the delivery of every treatment.

A PhD candidate at the University of Heidelberg, where she received a Master of Science degree with distinction, Juliane divides her time between research and direct clinical duties. “Patients frequently comment on how seamless their treatments are and express their gratitude to Juliane for her kindness and professionalism,” says Helen Shih, MD, associate medical director of the center. “Juliane has a rare combination of brilliance, creativity, collegiality and passionate commitment to excellent patient care.”
