Because of the extraordinary generosity of John Hancock, which annually donates Boston Marathon numbers to the MassGeneral Hospital for Children Cancer Center, Massachusetts General Hospital marathon runners have raised more than $4.5 million dollars over the past 11 years. As part of the John Hancock Marathon Program, each runner is paired with a pediatric patient undergoing treatment. Few can say they have run a marathon, and even fewer can say they did so in the name of an incredibly brave child fighting cancer. The MassGeneral Hospital for Children Cancer Center is led by Howard Weinstein, mD, who is pictured here with Erin McCloskey of John Hancock and pediatric patient Ronnie Walsworth III.
