Jeff Guyer’s final wish before passing away from his hard-fought battle with liposarcoma was that his family and friends keep fighting to find a cure for others battling rare cancers.
Jeff’s wife, Autumn Guyer, MD, and his best friend, Zac Bleicher, have taken on Jeff’s charge by launching a series of highly successful cycling fundraisers in honor of Jeff’s love for the sport. The fundraisers include cycling classes, silent auctions and biking events that have taken place all over the world in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, and even Cape Town, South Africa.
Participants can also form their own satellite events with Autumn and Zac’s support, or become virtual riders, raising funds online. The cycling events are physically challenging, emotionally and mentally rewarding, and 100% of the funds raised support rare cancer research at the Mass General Cancer Center. Since 2012, Autumn and Zac’s cycling events have raised more than $200,000. Jeff’s legacy lives on in those who will benefit from the research funded by their efforts.
Shelly Guyer, Jeff’s mother, says, “I cannot express how proud I am of Autumn and Zac’s continued efforts and huge successes. Started with love for Jeffrey, they have inspired so many people to reach out and give their dollars to help find a cure for this awful disease.”
