A compassionate clinician. An accomplished administrator. These two roles, brought together, are what make Inga Lennes, MD, MPH, MBA, a respected leader within the Mass General Cancer Center.

Dr. Lennes is a medical oncologist in the Center for Thoracic Cancers and specializes in lung and esophageal cancers. She is also the founder and director of the Pulmonary Nodule Clinic and works closely with colleagues to study and implement lung cancer screening and improve nodule management. She is also the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) senior vice president for Service Excellence and Practice Improvement.

Last year, Dr. Lennes was appointed the director of Cancer Center Ambulatory Services. In addition to overseeing quality and safety, she serves as the physician lead for the Infusion Center and the ambulatory multidisciplinary practices. “Inga has impressed us with her passion for operations redesign and performance improvement,” says David Ryan, MD, clinical director of the Mass General Cancer Center.

Along with her many key responsibilities at the Cancer Center, Dr. Lennes was instrumental in the successful roll-out of EPIC, has been critical to numerous quality initiatives focused on improving processes and patient care, and has been a champion of survivorship programming. Tom Lynch, MD, former chairman of the MGPO, saw firsthand how Dr. Lennes impacted the Cancer Center in a positive way: “She brings a great energy and enthusiasm to help physicians with their work, to make our practices more efficient, and to improve patient care.”
