Bob Lipin diagnosed himself with esophageal cancer on a November day in 2004 when he couldn’t swallow a piece of pineapple. Subsequently, he and his wife, Evelyn Ellis, learned the cancer had already spread to Bob’s lymph nodes. After conferring with medical colleagues about the best possible place for esophageal cancer treatment, Bob chose the Cancer Center, even though it meant receiving therapy far from home. Today, Bob and Evelyn have resumed their adventuresome lifestyle. Their ongoing generosity to the Cancer Center expresses their gratitude for the extraordinary care they received and supports continuing multidisciplinary research into the causes and treatments of esophageal cancer.
