James and Christine Cook shared a joyful married life for 32 years. Like every strong couple, they faced their challenges together, including the diagnosis of prostate cancer that James received in 1981. After six weeks of radiation at Mass General, his cancer went into remission. The couple enjoyed another 14 years together before the cancer returned, this time spreading throughout James’ body.
While James was undergoing treatment at the Mass General Cancer Center, the couple thought about ways to lessen the burden for other cancer patients and decided to name the Cancer Center as the beneficiary of a planned gift.
In 2007, James lost his life to cancer. Although Christine was going through a difficult time, she took a step full of hope and announced her bequest to support cancer research at Mass General in memory of her husband.
Christine has also spread the word about supporting the Cancer Center through a planned gift by sharing her story with others.
