Through the Boston Bruins Foundation as well as the generosity of individual players, the Boston Bruins enrich the quality of life and care that young cancer patients and their families experience at MassGeneral Hospital for Children.
VIP seats at games and financial gifts are only a starting point for the Bruins when it comes to supporting pediatric cancer patients.
From Valentine’s Day cookie decorating and Halloween pumpkin carving to personal deliveries of holiday toys, Bruins players enliven the lives of children undergoing treatment. Each visit is an occasion for a child to join a player for photographs and receive autographed memorabilia, but what both the children and their famous visitors most appreciate is their personal connection.
These visits inspire further acts of generosity from the players, including creative fund-raisers such as “Cuts for a Cause,” in which fans pay to shave the heads of favorite players. The Bruins sponsor “Flashes of Hope” sessions with professional photographers and stylists who create portraits of patients and their families.
