Massachusetts General Hospital has joined forces with The Boston Globe, Harvard University and MIT to create HUBweek, a weeklong series of world-class events which will bring together leading thinkers and doers from diverse backgrounds to develop new solutions to global and local issues.

Scheduled for Oct.3 through Oct.10, 2015, HUBweek will help accelerate creativity and creation through competitions, hands-on demonstrations and collaborative conferences. The week will feature displays of emerging technologies and hackathon-type forums focused on solving major problems. Also featuring cultural performances, interactive art experiences and other exhibitions, HUBweek will showcase the diverse, singular community that is Greater Boston.

The inaugural HUBweek will consist of new events open to a broad audience and launched as collaborations between the partner institutions. In addition, partner institutions will organize a number of their own events, some new and others well established, with a more specific topic or focus. Events will be held throughout Boston and Cambridge, on the campuses of the host institutions, in the Innovation District and at other venues and locations throughout the area.

Peter L. Slavin, MD, MGH president, says bringing together creative, curious and progressive thinkers to tackle some of the biggest problems is a formula for success. “HUBweek aims to not only showcase the most exciting work and promising ideas of today but also to find ways to push the frontiers of progress and inspire us to imagine the endless possibilities of innovation tomorrow.”

HUBweek is not limited to the title partners; event leaders are working with other organizations and institutions across the region to make them a part of the gathering.
