SBB Climbs to the Top of the Coconut Tree

On Saturday, October 1, 2022, Mass General for Children will celebrate its 23rd annual Storybook Ball at the Museum of Fine Arts. Throughout the history of this event, donor generosity has helped raise more than $34 million. This year’s ball promises to be an impactful one, as we highlight the incredible work that MGfC physicians and researchers are doing in the field of Newborn Medicine.

After two years, we’re looking forward to gathering together again.
Mass General strongly recommends all eligible individuals receive the COVID-19 vaccine and booster. We are closely monitoring local public health indicators and will make event-related decisions with your safety as our top priority.

Along with the amazing view, this sensational experience also treats your guests to in-seat service that includes Fenway snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. What more, before the game begins, your entire group gets a private tour of Fenway Park, discovering the fun and the facts behind your favorite world champions.

A Story of 12

All you’ll have to do is send out the invitations when you welcome 12 guests to your home for an unforgettable evening. The Catered Affair will prepare and serve an elegant dinner as it presents the finest in creative cuisine. Accompanying the dinner will be a truly distinctive selection of Spanish wine, courtesy of Paul Nitze. Experience the depth and intensity of a 2012 Pintia, along with the complexity and elegance of a 1981 Marques de Murrieta Rioja Gran Reserva Finca Ygay. The only thing equal to the grandeur on the table will be your home itself, which will be transformed by the artistry of Rafanelli Events and Winston Flowers.

Storybook Ball Over The Years

Proceeds from Storybook Ball over the past 21 years have allowed Mass General for Children to provide extraordinary care to our youngest patients and their families; to recruit and support the best physicians, surgeons and researchers; and to speed the development of new technologies and cutting-edge research that can transform clinical approaches locally and globally.

The past generosity of Storybook Ball supporters has helped establish new programs and facilities, such as the Coordinated Care Clinic and the state-of-the-art Francis H. Burr Proton Beam Therapy Center, enhancing our ability to serve children with complex physical and emotional needs. Like most health care organizations across the country and within Boston, however, Mass General is not immune to external challenges. In the face of economic adversity, MGfC is preparing to pursue its mission of caring for those who need our care most by renewing our commitment to the wide range of existing pediatric programs for which this hospital is renowned.

2020: Rainbow Fish

In 2020, the Storybook Ball was virtual for the first time in the event’s 21-year history. The virtual gala highlighted MGfC’s response to COVID-19, as clinicians and staff stepped in to provide care for adult and pediatric patients admitted to Mass General with the virus.

2019: Toy Story

In 2019, the 20th annual Storybook Ball featured Gastrointestinal Health and Disease. The Pediatric GI and Nutrition Program at MGfC provides comprehensive care for children with gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and nutritional disorders. Funds raised at the 2019 Storybook Ball supported research aimed at improving the health of children with chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders and celiac disease.

2018: 101 Dalmations

In 2018, Storybook Ball showcased MGfC’s Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which is dedicated to the behavioral, cognitive and emotional health of its patients and families. The Pediatric Behavioral Health team provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with a full spectrum of behavioral or emotional difficulties in inpatient and outpatient settings.
