The Howard Ulfelder, MD, Healing Garden is a place of beauty, repose and reflection for patients, their families and friends. Located in the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care, it is a comforting, meditative and inspirational retreat to help people cope with the stresses accompanying a serious illness such as cancer. The Friends of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, hospital leadership, volunteers and a multidisciplinary team of Cancer Center caregivers participated in its planning and execution. It is only through this group’s dedication and persistence, and through fundraising led by Dr. William and Jensie Shipley, that this unique gem exists.
