Mass General Giving

The Center for Cancer Risk Assessment at the Mass General Cancer Center provides comprehensive genetic counseling and testing services to patients at high risk of hereditary cancer.

The department’s genetic counselors — back row (left to right) Linda Rodgers, Erica Blouch, Kristen Shannon, Devanshi Patel and front row (left to right) Meredith Seidel, Janette Lawrence, Gayun Chan-Smutko, Michelle Gabree — have been providing outstanding cancer genetics care to Mass General patients for more than 15 years. They contribute to the care of hundreds of patients each year in a variety of locations throughout New England. Patients often remark about the high quality of their counseling.

The team provides evaluation, counseling, testing and referrals for appropriate ongoing monitoring, treatment and follow-up care for many kinds of hereditary cancers. The counselors are knowledgeable not only about cancer genetics, but also about the experience of being a cancer patient. Their unique service is often the first encounter that many patients have with the Mass General Cancer Center, and they represent the very best of this institution with their top-notch care and empathy.
