The one hundred honoree: Renée Johnson

by
Mass General Giving

As executive assistant for Bruce A. Chabner, MD, director of Clinical Research, and Mara Bloom, executive director of the Cancer Center, Renée Johnson is the human hub of two major administrative offices.

Renée organizes countless meetings that convene individuals within both Mass General and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, including patients, overseas visitors, fellows, medical students, physicians, researchers and staff.

Meanwhile, she has shaped the Cancer Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council into a model within Mass General and nationwide for patient advocacy and collaboration. Renée’s attentiveness to the group as a whole as well as to each member contributes to the council’s extraordinary longevity and impact.

Renée brings great intelligence and resourcefulness to all of her endeavors. She knows every name and every facet of cancer research at Harvard and skillfully orchestrates the complex schedules of Dr. Chabner and Ms. Bloom.

“Renée is irreplaceable,” says Dr. Chabner. “She handles an impossible job with grace and aplomb.”
