The one hundred honoree: Pamela and Peter Warren

by
Mass General Giving

Peter and Pamela Warren established an endowed fund at Mass General in 1995. Commenting about the extraordinary care his family received at the Cancer Center, Peter Warren said, “We had the best possible experiences under the worst possible circumstances.”

Fifteen years later, The Peter and Pamela Warren Fund has grown tremendously in value, thanks in part to additional gifts from family and friends over the years. In addition Mr. and Mrs. Warren have named their fund as a beneficiary of their will.

The fund supports cancer research led by Kenneth Tanabe, MD, chief of Surgical Oncology and deputy clinical director of the Cancer Center. The Warrens’ fund also provides for financially needy patients receiving treatment at Mass General. Through their endowed fund, the Warrens will support these causes in perpetuity.

With generous and forward-looking philanthropy, the Warrens are easing the burden on patients and their families today while investing in better outcomes for generations to come. “Unfortunately there is no silver bullet on the horizon,” said Peter. “But if we can contribute to expanding the body of knowledge about this disease, if we can help others cope with treatment and get better, then we have contributed something of substance.”
