The one hundred honoree: Mark and Marisa Forziati

by
Mass General Giving

Mark Forziati and his daughter Marisa have participated in the North Shore Cancer WALK annually since 2000, the 10th anniversary of Mark’s father’s death from cancer. That year, Marisa was six years old, and Mark carried her on his shoulders. Since then, Mark and his three children, as well as neighbors in Marblehead, Mass., have joined WALK as a team.

Three years ago, when WALK proceeds went to construction of the new Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers, Mass. Mark was among the first to commit a six-figure gift.

Marisa and 200 classmates at Marblehead High School took part in the 2009 WALK in honor of their beloved principal John Ziergiebel. Then in treatment at the Mass General Cancer Center, John subsequently lost his battle with cancer.

This year, Marisa will make the WALK in honor of Mr. Ziergiebel as well as her grandfather. Mark is chairing this 20th WALK, also the 20th anniversary of his father’s death. He and his committee are working to make it the largest WALK ever.
