The one hundred honoree: Lisa Arcikowski, NP

by
Mass General Giving

Lisa Arcikowski, NP, responds so readily and caringly to her patients that she makes each of them feel like her only patient. A nurse practitioner at the Center for Head and Neck Cancers at the Mass General Cancer Center, Lisa treats patients suffering from the painful and debilitating side effects associated with treatment to these areas.

Lisa skillfully and seamlessly assists Lori Wirth, MD, the center’s medical director, and John Clark, MD, the center’s clinical director, with evaluating patients’ needs and providing them relief, guidance and support. Patients and families appreciate her kindness and her receptiveness to their questions and concerns before, during and after treatment.

Christopher Keating, a throat cancer patient for the past two years, attributes his positive experience at Mass General to Lisa.

“Lisa’s low-key, friendly manner combined with her accessibility was a difference-maker in my experience at the Mass General Cancer Center,” he writes. “She acted as a rock-steady guide through each day. Many times Lisa went beyond the call of duty to check up on me. Once, when I was extremely sick and had to be admitted to intensive care after Lisa’s regular work hours, she came to see about my care. Seeing Lisa was like seeing the cavalry come to my rescue.”
