Jonathan Simons, MD, is the irrepressible, spirited and visionary CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), which has raised more than $480 million to support research against this disease. Formerly director of the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University, Dr. Simons joined the foundation in 2007 with the goal of catalyzing interactions between clinicians, scientists and philanthropists. The PCF now supports the most cutting-edge research against prostate cancer, bringing together preeminent scientists and clinicians, and supporting multidisciplinary dream teams, including a project at the Mass General Cancer Center testing circulating tumor cells as critical biomarkers in prostate cancer, testing of metabolic therapies in preventing bone metastases, and studies on quality of life in survivors of prostate cancer. Dr. Simons provides exceptional leadership for the PCF at a time of unparalleled scientific opportunities and works tirelessly in Congress and on the national scene as an advocate for cancer research.
