Joel Schwartz, MD, director of Oncology Services, at Mass General-North Shore Cancer Center, led the transformation of a two-physician practice at the North Shore Cancer Center in Peabody into a comprehensive outpatient treatment center for cancer patients in Danvers.

“We built a cancer center from the ground up guided by Dr. Schwartz and his visionary model,” says Antoinette Lavino, RPh, BCOP, chief pharmacist at the facility. “We forged new ground with interdisciplinary meetings, laying the foundation for innovative patient care that has since become established best practices in oncology.

“Dr. Schwartz is the voice and face of the cancer community on the North Shore,” Antoinette continues, “from tirelessly promoting community cancer care and fundraising to celebrating our patients’ successes at our survivorship programs.”

James McIntyre, MD, the center’s director of Radiation Oncology, adds, “Dr. Schwartz is an esteemed colleague who is truly a team player and a pleasure to work with. He does a fabulous job leading the Cancer Center. Dr. Schwartz is an outstanding oncologist but also a skilled administrator whose priority is clearly providing the highest quality patient care. It is through his leadership that the Cancer Center enjoys stellar patient satisfaction scores.”
