Jesuina Depina is the clinical support services supervisor for the Francis H. Burr Proton Therapy Center at Mass General, which serves patients from around the world.
Patients’ relationships with the proton center usually begin with Jesuina, who schedules treatments and helps patients obtain all the information they seek before starting treatment. Jesuina also provides behind-the-scene clearance of their vital paperwork.
Jesuina’s job is challenging as demand for treatment at the center far exceeds its capacity. Each patient’s needs are complex, and Jesuina skillfully manages her multiple responsibilities on behalf of patients requiring urgent care.
Yet Jesuina is consistently patient and calm with patients and staff alike. “Jesuina understands the big picture needs of our patients and thinks creatively to efficiently solve problems,” says Helen Shih, MD, associate medical director of the center. “The quality of our service is elevated by having Jesuina in her front-line role.”
