The Friends of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center believe that cancer patients should never have to face their ordeals alone. Since 1984, the Friends have helped fund patient and family education, support and counseling services, relaxation and coping classes, and an emergency fund for families struggling with the economic demands of treatment and living with cancer. To date, the Friends have given more than $4 million to the Cancer Center, providing vital support to programs such as the Network for Patients and Families, which matches patients with those having a similar diagnosis and lifestyle; the Maxwell V. Blum Cancer Resource Room; and The Howard Ulfelder, MD, Healing Garden.
