The one hundred honoree: Francesca Noll, RTT

Mass General Giving

Francesca Noll, RTT, will do whatever it takes to support her patients, her team and her department, jumping in whenever and wherever she sees a need.

In her time as a senior radiation therapist at Mass General, Francesca built a reputation as an effective and successful problem-solver of the wide ranges of issues that can arise in a radiation oncology setting. As adaptable as she is resourceful, Francesca was always willing to help out colleagues by adjusting her schedule to fill a hole in coverage. For patients undergoing radiation therapy, Francesca spent whatever time they needed to explain the procedure and what they can expect. Her compassion, calm demeanor and depth of knowledge inevitably put them at ease.

“Francesca always puts others needs before her own,” says one nominator. “She will cover CAT scan, acuity or any linear accelerator and doesn’t need refreshing as she moves from one to the other. Francesca takes initiative when she notices a problem or even just something that needs to be done that’s not necessarily directly related to her role. Everyone—managers, doctors, nurses—has confidence and trust in Francesca to handle difficult situations effectively.”

In 2015, her colleagues singled her out for the Radiation Oncology Excellence Award in Teamwork in Radiation Therapy. She has since moved on to become a lead radiation therapist at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center at South Shore Hospital.

“Francesca stands out as a leader and a valuable resource for all of her co-workers,” says Nancy Worthington, a patient services coordinator in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
