The one hundred honoree: Courtney McLeish

Mass General Giving

Courtney McLeish has become the “go to” person at the Mass General Cancer Center, finding answers and solving problems for everyone she meets.

A busy environment like the Cancer Center can present many unique challenges—even for people who work there every day. But luckily, Courtney is on the job, keeping everything flowing as she earns the trust and respect of those around her. Courtney started at the Cancer Center right out of college, working as a front desk coordinator. But it didn’t take long for her to demonstrate her grace under pressure as she took on the role of administrative coordinator.

On any given day, you’ll find her helping a co-worker, troubleshooting an issue, running to return a page, managing one of many scheduling mailboxes, or training a new employee. Add to this her major accomplishment in helping the Cancer Center transition to a new electronic recordkeeping system known as EPIC. She spent countless hours perfecting her own system knowledge so she could be a resource for the hundreds of staff who have relied upon her to share that knowledge over the last year. Courtney has been instrumental in developing and implementing many of the EPIC scheduling workflow policies to ensure clinics run as smoothly as possible.

On top of all of this, however, her first priority is ensuring that her patients’ needs are met. In the words of her manager, Colleen Anderson, “I speak for many when I say that Courtney’s contribution to the Cancer Center is irreplaceable.”
