Bruce Crawford, MS, DABR, medical physicist, consults with radiation oncologists at the Mass General Cancer Center on every aspect of radiation treatment—from planning and monitoring to safety and quality assurance—all of which are key to achieving the most beneficial outcomes for patients.

Though Bruce mainly works behind the scenes, he has contributed extensively in the past several years to the high quality radiation therapy provided at the Mass General Cancer Center. Among his many contributions is the pivotal role he played in the relocation and adoption of a new generation of linear accelerators on the hospital’s main campus.

Bruce also oversees the work of a group of medical physicists and reviews the quality of care provided at the Mass General Cancer Center’s satellite radiation therapy centers. In addition, he supports the Department of Radiation Oncology’s delivery of stereotactic radiosurgery, a highly precise form of radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation to a small area of the body, while minimizing the radiation to surrounding healthy tissue.
