An initial generous gift from The Avon Foundation helped establish the Avon Foundation Comprehensive Breast Evaluation Center, which is dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of breast cancer, and the Avon Breast Care Program, an outreach initiative to underserved women in metropolitan Boston. This program exemplifies the Cancer Center’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art care to low-income patients from a variety of ethnic backgrounds while serving as a model for other institutions. The Avon Foundation is the largest donor to the Cancer Center to date, and the Foundation’s generous continuing support, led by Executive Director Carol Kurzig and Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Director Marc Hurlbert, PhD (pictured), is critical to the Center’s determination to overcome disparities in health care.
