Antoinette Lavino, RPh, BCOP, chief pharmacist at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, is a well-renowned expert revered by clinicians within and beyond Mass General.

One of the first board certified oncology pharmacists, Antoinette designed and developed the center’s state-of-the-art pharmacy, which became a prototype for other oncology pharmacies in the Mass General system.

Driven by her passion to make life better for cancer patients, Antoinette has pioneered numerous innovations that have become standards of best practice in her field.

Antoinette is a major resource to fellow clinicians regarding chemotherapy, supportive drugs and drug interactions, and she tracks the latest literature to keep their care as current and evidence-based as possible.

“I found Antoinette to be an extraordinary clinical colleague,” writes Joseph Jacobson, MD,chief quality officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, who worked with Antoinette for 15 years at Mass General. “She combines unparalleled knowledge of chemotherapy with a strong sense of mission as well as an intense focus on patient safety and quality of care. She is a tireless educator and life-learner. She is an inspiration to all of us.”

“Antoinette and her department are the lifeblood of the Cancer Center,” says Oncology Services Director Joel Schwartz, MD. “She is absolutely vital to our success.”
