Since March 2010, Pamela and Thomas Lange have come to know the great skill and compassion of Andrew X. Zhu, MD, PhD, Michelle Knowles, APRN-BC, and their colleagues at Mass General’s Tucker Gosnell Center for Gastrointestinal Cancer.

“As I was preparing my family’s Thanksgiving dinner,” wrote Pamela, whose husband is in Dr. Zhu’s care, “Dr. Zhu phoned to wish us a happy Thanksgiving and tell us that my husband’s CT scan looked pretty good. How can I describe the comfort his phone call gave us that day?”

Pamela recalls her family’s first visit to the Gosnell Center, after Tom’s diagnosis. “We were in shock,” continued Pamela. “But when we went in, we were welcomed like family. We have found such peace in the care of Michelle Knowles and Dr. Zhu and each of the people at the Gosnell Center. They embody grace and kindness. We are never rushed and always feel that they and their team are doing everything possible for us.

“The other day, when speaking of his next appointment, my husband said, “‘Tomorrow, we go to see our other family.’”
