The one hundred honoree: Alice B. Hatch

by
Mass General Giving

“Many scientists talk about having a ‘guardian angel’ who understands the devastation of disease, the importance of research, the challenges of funding and the benefits of knowledge,” says Hensin Tsao, MD, clinical director of the Mass General Melanoma & Pigmented Lesion Center. Alice Hatch is one of those guardian angels for Mass General.

Alice’s deep relationship with the hospital began when she was an employee and continued as she faced melanoma as a patient. A 30-year volunteer at Mass General, she contributes her time to supporting patients and families who face the challenges of battling cancer. Her generosity as a philanthropist and active volunteer make her a pillar of the Mass General Cancer Center, and she sets a remarkable example for others to follow with her commitment to research and patient care. In 2013, she even walked the runway at Mass General Cancer Center’s “Couture for Cancer Care” fashion show alongside Dr. Tsao, who declares, “I can think of no better friend of Mass General than Alice.”
