If there’s anything more important than fighting cancer today, it’s inspiring the people who will take on that fight tomorrow. Aditya Bardia, MD, MPH, has proven to be successful at both.
Dr. Bardia is the director of Precision Medicine in the Center for Breast Cancer at Mass General. He is the principal investigator of a number of cutting-edge trials for patients with breast cancer, and has led the clinical development of novel targeted therapies in breast cancer, such as sacituzumab (IMMU-132), which was awarded breakthrough designation status for triple negative breast cancer in February 2016. He leads the translational biomarker efforts for the breast oncology group and has collaborated extensively with the Haber Lab on high-impact research projects focused on circulating tumor cells as a “liquid biopsy” in breast cancer. In these efforts, and many more, he has earned the admiration of his colleagues, including clinical director of the Center for Breast Cancer, Beverly Moy, MD. “Aditya is tireless in his work. I have shared multiple patients with him over the years and can attest to his brilliance, compassion and collegiality.”
While skillfully balancing the roles of physician, educator and researcher, Dr. Bardia is also highly admired for the role he plays as a mentor. He has mentored several of the residents, fellows and emerging junior faculty, leading to publications in several prestigious journals and recruitment of talented members to the group.
In noting several of the people that have greatly benefitted from Dr. Bardia’s guidance, colleague and medical oncologist Steven Isakoff, MD, PhD, says, “Given his young career, his ability to mentor so many young fellows and staff is a remarkable testament to his talent and commitment.”
