A bequest is the most personal gift that you can give to the hospital, and Mass General appreciates the significant gesture of remembering the hospital in your estate plans. There are a number of ways that you can name the hospital as a beneficiary of your will. You can:

  • Give a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate;
  • Bequeath stock, bonds or real estate; or
  • Name the hospital as a residual beneficiary. Mass General will receive all or part of the remainder of your estate after all other bequests have been satisfied and final taxes paid.

If you already have a will, you can add Mass General to it by simply executing a codicil.

You can designate your bequest to a particular department or program that is important to you. Or, you can leave your bequest unrestricted to meet the most pressing needs of the hospital. Here is suggested bequest language to share with your attorney or advisor.   Working together we can create a bequest that reflects your wishes and makes a lasting difference at Mass General.
