At the MGH Revere Food Pantry, our mission is to build the healthiest food pantry in the Boston area.

In Revere, Massachusetts, we serve a diverse patient population at the Revere Healthcare Center of Mass General Hospital that experiences high rates of both food insecurity as well as nutrition-dependent chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. We aim to treat both food insecurity and chronic disease at our food pantry.

Since our opening in January 2020, our goal has always been to offer patients the healthiest foods that we can find: fresh fruits and vegetables and plant-based shelf-stable foods such as peanut butter and brown rice. In addition, we offer nutrition counseling and recipe advice.

Shortly after opening, our community was hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we saw an increase in the need for nutritious foods. As a result, the MGH Revere Food Pantry expanded its operation to service our entire patient base. In doing so, we temporarily took over the space for the MGH Revere YouthZone, an after-school program that was shut down due to the crisis. We are planning to expand into a permanent home this fall. Now, we are in need of funding to build a teaching kitchen in our new home so that patients can learn how to prepare healthy foods with their own two hands. Teaching kitchens are where people learn to cook, eat, move, and think more healthfully–for a lifetime.

Our Goal

Our goal is to expand our space at 300 Broadway so that we can continue to serve our community with delicious and nutritious foods and services. We have a shovel-ready plan to move into the basement of the building where we are currently located. Your donation will help us include a brand new teaching kitchen in our new home.
