The one hundred honoree: Jessica P. Driscoll, NP

by
Mass General Giving

Jessica Driscoll, NP, greets her bone marrow transplant patients with a hug and a smile, comforting them with her warmth and optimism. However, their absolute confidence in her derives from more than her very human touch.

Jessica works alongside Yi-Bin Chen, MD, director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the Mass General Cancer Center, monitoring and following up on every detail of patient care. Deeply committed to her field and her transplant patients, Jessica is conducting research on the impact of living with graft-versus-host disease to earn her doctorate degree.

Jessica also recognizes the effects of transplantation on patients’ families. In honor of this life-saving milestone, she helped to organize the Bone Marrow Transplant Patient and Family Reunion, a celebratory occasion for the program’s transplant survivors and families to meet one another. Jessica’s patient, Eric Buckley, recently hosted a private gathering at his home for his bone marrow donor and his family and wrote the following in support of Jessica’s nomination:

“I invited her to come, not expecting her to attend on her weekend off. She was there alongside our family for the emotional meeting. Through the years, Jess has provided the emotional support that is needed for a patient and family dealing with the emotional roller coaster that is cancer. She is truly an angel looking out for me.”
