Together we can shape the future of health care.
Year after year, millions of cancer patients grapple with the aftereffects of life-saving therapies that impinge on their quality of life. One common side effect of treatment is chemotherapy induced alopecia, or hair loss.
The Mass General Cancer Center is meeting this challenge head-on by offering patients access to a new, FDA-approved scalp cooling therapy that helps preserve hair during treatment. Scalp cooling is an innovative therapy that can prevent hair loss caused by many chemotherapy drugs. The use of scalp cooling has proven to be safe and effective, and can result in women retaining much, or all, of their hair. For people receiving chemotherapy, scalp cooling can mean the opportunity to maintain a sense of normalcy, dignity and privacy during treatment.
Philanthropy plays a vital role in our ability to provide and expand our scalp cooling therapy program. To help us realize our vision, we ask you to consider making a gift to the Innovation in Breast Cancer Treatment Fund at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center today.
