The Transplant Golf Classic has raised more than $1.5 million for MGH since we started the event in 2010, fueling groundbreaking research into the two main challenges of organ transplantation: eliminating the need to suppress the immune system with medications that carry toxic side effects and addressing the shortage of organs available for transplant.
Recent advances with MGH’s work in tolerance induction mean that some patients can now avoid taking lifelong immunosuppressive drugs after kidney transplantation. ln addition, the MGH Transplant Center is leading the effort to end the organ shortage by new methods of organ preservation and resuscitation and the identification of novel sources of organs.
Please join us as a player, sponsor, or guest for the dinner reception at the 2018 Transplant Golf Classic. It will be a fun day of golf on a terrific course, and you will hear about research taking place only at MGH.
