Paula Ricci was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July of 2012. At the time, she was training for her first Sprint Triathlon.
This news brought that training and her life to an abrupt halt. She was immediately sent to Mass General Hospital where she was told that the tumor had to be removed. One week later, Dr. Robert Martuza and his exceptional team at MGH performed a successful 9 hour brain surgery.
Although the surgery slowed her down during the fall and winter of 2012/13, she still had the goal of completing her first triathlon. She started running again in March, hopped on her bicycle once the snow disappeared and took her first swimming lesson in July. She counts her blessings daily and wants to thank MGH, her family, friends, and colleagues by completing this race. She will be celebrating life on September 22 with her loved ones! Come join her!
