Phi Alpha Tau is raising money for the Dr. David Brudnoy Memorial Fund for AIDS research at Mass General! Dr. Brudnoy was a preeminent radio talk show host in Boston whose show was heard in 38 states on WBZ. In 1996, he received an honorary doctorate from Emerson College, and in 2001 was made an honorary brother of the Phi Alpha Tau Fraternity. Dr. Brudnoy was a mentor to the brothers and often hosted them at his home studio in the Back Bay. After he became sick with HIV in the 1990s, he established the Dr. David Brudnoy Fund for AIDS Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2004, as “Bruds” taped his final segment for WBZ from a Mass General hospital bed, he encouraged listeners to support the fund to further our understanding of HIV/AIDS. On Dec. 9, 2004, Dr. Brudnoy died of complications from Merkel cell cancer, proud that he had “beat HIV.”
